Windsor Castle and Hampton Court Palace

Description

Windsor Castle & Hampton Court Palace Day Tour

Your driver guide will meet you at your hotel at 9:00 am. This is a good time to discuss the itinerary and to talk about any changes you may wish to make.

Set in the centre of the town Windsor Castle is said to be the Queens favourite residence. Built in 1067 it is the longest continually inhabited castle in the world. Your guide will take you through the stunning state rooms and the chapel and tell you the history of this magnificent castle. Look out for the magnificent dolls house built in the early 1920s for Queen Mary, the wife of King George V.

After lunch either in Windsor or on route you will arrive at Hampton Court palace.

Originally built by Cardinal Wolesey it was gifted to Henry VIII and became one of his favourite palaces. First you will visit the Tudor palace and see the kitchens, the best preserved Tudor hall in the country, the haunted corridor and the Royal Chapel. You then cross the courtyard to see the baroque palace state apartments of William III. The palace also has wonderful gardens but try not to get lost in the maze!
